A Poem for Ellie at Age 3

A whispered wish, the seeds are blown,
You while away the hours,
For you the world is magical,
While dandelions are flowers.

All is well, and all is good,
And smiles have their own powers,
A gentle innocence is felt,
While dandelions are flowers.

To most they're naught but hateful weeds,
That ne'er hang on the bower,
To you they're only beautiful,
Your dandelions are flowers.

Yet, fair child with time your eyes,
Will see these things turn sour.
And as you grow, you will forget,
When dandelions were flowers.

But now you dream in make believe,
A world of castle towers,
And I will steal these moments dear,
While dandelions are flowers.
