Saturday

We have known for some time now that Se.same Street Live would be showing at the De.soto Civic Center. We would periodically go to the website and look at the tickets, and we would exclaim loudly about the cost of such tickets. For the three of us to go, it was going to be about $120. Yep...I just heard your jaw hit the floor :) And yep...we would have to buy a seat for Ellie. Well, we never did book it. It seemed a bit much for 2 hours of entertainment. And we weren't real sure how a 19 month old would behave at such a function.

But suddenly today about 11:30, I decided that Ellie and I were going to go. Jason was in class so he wouldn't need a ticket :) I booked 2 tickets online to the sweet, sweet tune of $55.00, and Ellie and I got ready to go. The show started at 2:00 pm.

We arrived EARLY! Shocked, huh? We paid to park and proceeded to jump across the parking lot. We found our really, really good seats and got situated with Abby (a present from Marcie), a new Elmo t-shirt, a box of popcorn, and a Coke.

All the characters were there. Of course, Abby's entrance roused the most excitement from her. She was enthralled for over an hour. There was a lot of singing and a lot of dancing on the stage, but Ellie sat really still and really quiet on my lap for most of the show.

The big wad of El.mo balloons came out at intermission. We watched several of those float to the top of the Civic Center.

She was still clinging to the box of popcorn...and she wasn't too crazy about sharing it with me!

And when Big Bird came on over the speaker to remind everyone that show was about to resume, Ellie decided to get a little vocal.

After 30 more minutes or so, the show ended with some loud bangs and flying streamers...and we waited our turn to exit. Of course, we jumped back across the parking lot to get to the car. Before we exited the building, I noticed that Cu.rious George will be showing in November...so that may be our next big adventure since today was so successful.

And we hadn't been in the car for more than 10 minutes when Ellie slipped off into dreamland.

And to round out the day, we ate at our favorite restaurant, bought a ball and chased it down the mall, and took in a game of bowling. Jason won!
